Obituary of Katherine Douglas Hames

HAMES - Katherine "Kay" Douglas (nee Jolly) passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 with family by her side. The middle of five children, Kay was born on the family farm near Mossbank, Sask. in 1917. For 88 years she graced family and friends with her loving personality, wonderful baking, independent spirit, and steadfast devotion as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend. As a young woman Kay worked at the HMCS Queen building where she met her husband Bob, who served in the army. After marrying, Kay devoted her life to raising her family and providing a loving home. Kay was predeceased by her parents Alex and Gladys, beloved husband Bob, brothers Rich and Doug and sister Agnes. She is survived by her brother Bob (Lorna), sisters-in-law Ferne (Alex) Robb, Helen A. Hames, and Helen M. Hames, daughter Bev (Bosco) Hui, son Barry (Gisele), and grandchildren Allison, Becki and Julie Hui, Robbie and Lindsay Hames, and Curt and Colin Savage. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Unit 3F at the Regina General Hospital. Kay's memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 9 at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset United Church, 177 Sunset Drive, Regina, with Rev. Russell Mitchell-Walker officiating and a reception immediately following the service. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
