Obituary of Josef Bahr

BAHR - Josef Bahr, passed away peacefully with his beloved family at his side on Thursday, June 1, 2006 at the Regina General Hospital at the age of 80 years. Josef was a beloved Husband, Father, Opa, Brother and friend to all. The most important part of Josefs life was his family and he leaves behind Christine Wowchuk (Steve Prentice), Monica Hanson (Doug), Suzannah Hahrt (Gerry Bevan), Rainer Bahr (Shelly), Gary Bahr (Danielle). He was a loving grandfather to Michael Wowchuk, Jillian, Jeffrey and Kaitlin Hanson, Alexander and Jared McNeil, and Darren Bahr. He is survived by his sister Clara Rohrick, as well as many nieces and nephews in Germany. Josef joins his beloved wife Theresia, father Joseph Bahr, mother Christine Just, sister Maria Schweizer, and brothers Alexander and Lawrence Bahr. Josef was born on March 15, 1926 in Alt Klosterdorf, Ukraine. He came to Canada in 1952 and began his life here as a farm labourer. He returned to Germany and married Theresia Kraus on Feb. 23, 1957 and brought her to Canada soon after to begin a new life. He started his career with Bird Construction and worked for them for almost 30 years. He enjoyed watching sports, gardening and spending time with his family and friends. Viewing to be held Tuesday June 6, 2006 from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Ave. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday June 7, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Marys RC Parish, 2026 Winnipeg St., Regina. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Doctors and Nurses at the Regina General Hospital SICU who took such great care of him. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joes memory can be made to the Saskatchewan Heart and Stroke Association or the Saskatchewan Lung Association.
