Obituary of Richard John Ostrosser

Richard Ostrosser June 17, 1960 - June 18, 2006 It is with great sadness that Richards family and friends announce his passing on June 18, 2006. Richard is survived by his father David and mother Jean Ostrosser, Calgary, Alberta; brother Jeff, Calgary, Alberta; sister Jill & husband Tony, children Jack, Charlie, and Spencer of Los Angeles, California. Richard was first and foremost a friend who left his mark on all who knew him. Richard became an educator, mentor, leader, and at times a special counsellor to many people. Richard held the role of Director for the Treaty 4 Education Centre; the education department of Regina Treaty/Status Indian Services Inc. in 1995. Richard also taught at the Chief Gabriel Cote Education Complex on Cote First Nation for several years where he made many friends who have remained close throughout the years. Richard will be deeply missed by his Saskatchewan family: Jody Langan (Jade); Byron Langan, Joanne Langan and family; Myke Agecoutay (Megan & Kya); Mark Pelly & Leanne Halter; Margaret Whitehawk and family; Dean Bigknife (Tania); Darcy & Karen Tourangeau and family; Jonas & Joyce Cote; Stephanie Montgrand and family; Erin Bitternose, Trevor & Monica Pelly (Meagan & Jessiah); Grant & Laura Rusk and family; Pam & Dale Angell (Jennifer); Bonnie Vandale, John and Lynn McDonald, Eddie Cote (Rochelle); Candace Cappo (Chief Todd Cappo and family). Richs bros: Mike Kenny, Brandon McNab, Joey Tapaquon, Fenton Paquachan, Adrian Cyr, Michael Lee, Clayton Episkenew, Rob Gambler, Steven Lerat, Reginald Lerat, Jeremy Bellegarde, Patsy Derzaph (Rick); special friend Phil Auger (Chief Bev Bellegarde) AND all students past and present who attended the Treaty 4 Education Centre. Funeral service will be provided by the Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Ave, Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada S4P 1C5. Traditional wake will be held Saturday, June 24, 2006 starting at 4:00 pm, at the Gathering Place located at 4001-3rd Avenue North. Service is to be held Sunday, June 25, 2006 at Gathering Place at 11:00 am, burial at Riverside Memorial Park at 2:00 pm with Elders officiating.
