Obituary of Donald Orville Thickson

THICKSON, Donald - Born December 15, 1942 in Endeavour, SK, passed away suddenly July 5, 2006 in Thunder Bay, ON, while on vacation with his family. Don was predeceased by his father Wilfred, his brother Alfred, and by his nephew Trent. Don is survived by his mother Aggie, his brother Bernie (Shiela) and Bernies children Cindy (Roland), John (Leanne), and their families; his sister Janet (Brian) and Janets children Angie (Jeff), Rick (Hayley) and their families; his sister Anna and her children Scott, Darrel (Tracey), Cheryl (Tony), Kerryann and their families; and by his brother Jim. Don is also survived by his daughter Donna Thelan (John) and their children Christopher and Lisa, and by his dear friend and soulmate Vi Maeers and her daughter Esther and granddaughter Christina. Don will be remembered for his never failing tribute to a country and western lifestyle through his authentic western attire and his western dancing repertoire. He will also be remembered for his devotion to his family and his dedication to making the world around him a more beautiful place. He loved being outdoors, communing with nature, the birds, the flowers, the garden. He was also an avid photographer, capturing many beautiful images of nature. Don found a sense of spirituality, vitality and peace through his connection with his own land and on many occasions could be seen jogging around his property. He was a very humble quiet man, very sincere, and had a kind and caring heart. In lieu of flowers donations may be made, in memoriam, to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 2360 2nd Avenue, Regina, SK S4R 1A6. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 2241 Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK.
