Obituary of Doris May MacKinnon

MACKINNON, Doris May (nee Stokes) Passed away peacefully on July 8, 2006 at age 88, late of Ottawa, formerly of Regina, beloved wife of the late Andrew MacKinnon and first husband, the late Gus Swedberg. Predeceased by her parents Alfred and Elsie Stokes; sister Jessie; brothers, Bill, Fred and George; Mother of son Ross (Abbey) and Grandmother of Kristen and Connor, all of Ottawa. Doris is also survived by sisters-in-law Joyce and Mary Stokes; her aunt Jessie Stokes; cousin Glenda Bell (Don) and Jean Boyd (Rev. Warren); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives in England, and relatives from the Swedberg family. Doris was the last of her immediate family and will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, sense of fun and her service to the community. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina on Sunday, July 16, 2006 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Cross R.C. Church, 315 Douglas Avenue East, Regina on Monday, July 17, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Norman Marcotte presiding. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. Friends so wishing may make donations, in memoriam, to Save the Children Canada, 4141 Yonge Street, Suite 300, Toronto, ON M2P 2A8. Arrangements in Ottawa entrusted to Hulse, Playfair and McGarry.
