Obituary of Mary Chomyn

CHOMYN - On Thursday, July 13, 2006, Mary Chomyn (nee Katchuk) passed away at the age of 83 years. Predeceased by her parents Edna (Bulla), John Katchuk; her husband Mike Chomyn (1988); and her close brother Mike Katchuk (2005). She is survived by her sister Anne (Kachnig) of Oshawa, ON, brother Bill of Montmartre, SK, son John Mike Chomyn of Regina, daughter, Stella Vernon of Regina, daughter Anne Chomyn of Regina, son Bill (Sandi) Chomyn of Togo, SK., daughter Sophie Chomyn of Regina, daughter Mary (Jerry) Brodner of Regina, son Steve Chomyn of Weyburn, SK; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and few great-grandchildren. Mary (Mom) was born in Dysart, SK on August 12, 1922, later the family moved to a farm southwest of Wolseley to live near other relatives. At the age of 9 she lost her father, being the second oldest of the four, she had to leave school after four years to help on the farm. She had to work very hard on the farm. Prayers will be held on Monday, July 17, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue. Divine Liturgy will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Basils Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1757 Toronto Street, Regina with Rt. Rev. Msgr. R. Luzney presiding.
