Obituary of Nicola 'Nick' Salerno

SALERNO - "Nick Nicola Salerno, it is with sadness that we announce his passing away on Saturday July 29, 2006 in Regina. He was born in Volturara, Irpina, Italy on October 30, 1924 to Ferdinando and Adelina Salerno. He was married to Fiorinda (Florence) on November 13, 1947. Nick and Florence immigrated to Canada in 1952 with their daughter, Lina. He worked with the C.P.R. until 1969, when he and a business associate bought the Milestone Hotel. In 1974 he moved to Regina where he later retired. Nick enjoyed family, friends, the cabin at the lake, gardening, and garage sales. Predeceased by his wife Florence (1992), one brother Geraldo and two grandchildren, Christina and Daniel. Mr. Salerno is survived by his children, Lina (Cliff) Heilman of Saskatoon, Fred (Heather) of Regina, Gina (Richard) Moorhead of Milestone; six grandchildren; Bonnie, Annalee, Jeff, Bryan, Raelynn and Shelby. Five great grandchildren; Lisa, Christina, Leanne, Lee and Zachary and siblings, Beatrice, Maria, Edmondo, Elena, Augusto, Valentino and Michele. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday August 2, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. in Christ the King R.C. Church, 3239 Garnet Street, Regina with the Rev. Ken Koep officiating. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. Prayers will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Ave., Regina at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday August 1, 2006. A special thanks to the angels on Palliative Care, 3B, Drs.
