Obituary of James Francis Cousins Betteridge

It is with great sadness the family of James Betteridge announces his unexpected passing on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at the age of 81. Jim leaves to mourn and will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years, Ruth Betteridge (nee Taylor); his sisters, Lorraine Innes, Dorothy Innes; brothers, Jack (Joyce) Betteridge of Moose Jaw, Dave (Betty) Betteridge of Regina, Harvey (Donna) Betteridge of QuAppelle; sister-in-law Marion of Regina; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, close friends, and special family pets, Pal, Buddy and Bibs. Jimmy was predeceased by his parents James and Annie Betteridge; brothers, Ken and Clifford Betteridge; in-laws Harland and Gladys Taylor; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wally Innes, Ike Innes, Ross and Isabel Taylor, and Stella Betteridge; special cousins George and Meta Bierlia; and his faithful dog, Lady. Jim was born, raised and attended school at Pilot Butte. He was a fortunate man who was able to live his dream and farm for many years. Jim bought the family farm in 1972 and made this their home base. Jim and his brother Dave farmed together for 45 years in many locations, including Jedburg, Balgonie, Indian Head, Zehner, and finally Richardson and Pilot Butte. Jims connection with farm, family, and friends flowed very strong in his veins and the times spent with them made very special memories for those of us who are left behind. Prior to full time farming, Jim worked at many different and interesting jobs working for Dennis Porter, cutting pulp in Ontario, and many years in the car game? with Canadian Motors Ltd. and others. Jimmy lived a full life and loved to laugh. He is famous for his good natured teasing at home or in his travels. We will dearly miss him. A Service to Celebrate Jims Life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Barry Bruce officiating. Interment in Regina Memorial Gardens. Flowers gratefully declined. Those so wishing may make a donation in Jims memory to the Alzheimers Society of SK, #301-2550 12th Avenue, Regina SK, S4P 3X1 or the Regina Humane Society, Box 3143, Stn. Main, Regina SK, S4P 9Z9.
