Obituary of Vivian Lucile Yackel

Vivian, late of Emerald Park SK. passed away peacefully on Thursday at the age of 99 years. She was predeceased by her parents Walter and Mary Krueger; brothers Fred and Ken Krueger; and her husband Bill. Viv was born in Dorchester, Wisconsin and moved with her family to Regina in 1927 where she attended Central Collegiate and Luther College. She obtained a music degree in piano from the London (England) Conservatory of Music and put her talents to use as a piano teacher, church organist (St. Andrew’s United Church in Lumsden), and choir leader. She married Bill Yackel in 1940 and lived in Estlin and then Lumsden where Bill taught school. She moved back to Regina in 1982. Viv enjoyed golf and was an avid Rough Rider fan for many years. She is survived by six nieces and one nephew. Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina on Tuesday, May 28, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Robert A. Kitchen officiating. Interment in Lumsden Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined.
