Obituary of Elizabeth Agatha McNeil

ELSIE McNEIL It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Elsie McNeil. She passed away quietly at the age of 93. Elsie was predeceased by her first husband Bruce Yasinski in 1942, her second husband Gordon McNeil in 1985 and her brother Ray in 1995. She leaves behind her four children, Joan (Sean), David (Marcia), Carol (George) and Susan (Garnet); her five grandchildren, Trent, Callum, Allison, Megan and Ryan; and three great-grandchildren, Owen, Ava and Davie. Elsie was born in Scott, Saskatchewan in 1918 and moved to Regina at the age of three after her father passed away. Her mother Bertha, moved her son Ray and Elsie to Regina where she ran a popular boarding house. Early in her life, she loved working at the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, but then was swept off her feet by a dashing pilot, married him and moved to Quebec in 1940. After Bruce died tragically in 1942, Elsie and daughter Joan moved back to Regina. While living at her mothers boarding house, she fell in love for a second time and married Gordon in 1945. Except for a short time living in Chaplin, Elsie lived the remainder of her life in Regina raising her four children and working at Sears. Elsie always saw the bright side of life, getting immense pleasure raising her children and grandchildren and in later life enjoying her many friends and social events, such as bridge and travelling. Throughout her life she made many friends, including lifelong friends from high school. The family would like to extend their very sincere thanks to the staff at Kinmara Care Home where Mom enjoyed her final days.
