Obituary of George Montan
MONTAN - On Sunday, March 6, 2005, Mr. George Montan Jr., late of Regina and formerly of the Limerick district, passed away at the age of 88 years. George was predeceased by his parents Anna (Stoian) and George Sr.; a sister in infancy and sister Florence; brothers Wesley and Danny. George is survived by sisters Mary, Millie, Jennie, Virginia (Al) Prince, Bernice (Tony) Flaman all of Regina; brothers Constantine (Laurette) of Abbotsford, Johnny (Doris) of Medicine Hat; sisters-in-law Louise of Assiniboia and Marie of Regina; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Georges parents immigrated to Canada in 1907 from the village of Saraiu, Romania and settled in the Limerick district. Their first son born was George Jr. on February 8, 1917. George Jr. served in the army stationed in the Vancouver area. Once his service ended he went home to the farm and helped Dad farm and take care of town business until Dad retired. George Jr. continued to farm with his brother Danny, summers going back and forth from Regina until he finally retired. George Jr. was a devoted son and assisted his sister Mary caring for their parents in Regina until their passing. They moved to Abbotsford, BC for a few years and then decided it was time to move back to Regina where they have resided to date. George Jr. was a good business man and a faithful member of the St. Georges Romanian Orthodox Cathedral in Regina. Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2005 at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina. Orthodox Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 12 at 10:00 a.m. from the Sts. Peter and Paul Romanian Orthodox Church, Flintoft, SK with The Very Revd Mitred Archpriest (Prof. Dr.) Waldemar J. Kuchta officiating. Interment in Sts.
