Obituary of Irma Louise Baker

BAKER, Irma passed away March 8, 2005. She is predeceased by her parents Henry and Emma Laughton, first husband Carl Jakobs, and second husband Emil Baker. Left to cherish her memory are her children BettyAnn (Ron) Hicke, Ron (Melanie) Jakobs, her sister Evelyn (Tom) Yeomans and many nieces and nephews. Irma started life in Germany on February 15, 1914 and moved to Canada following World War 1. She attended Benson School after which she worked as a housekeeper in a private home and then on to service at Government House for Lieutenant Governor McNab. She enjoyed her time there, meeting many interesting and famous people. She met her first husband Carl and married in 1941. She had two children BettyAnn (1945) and Ron (1953). She enjoyed being a homemaker and took pride in the house that her husband Carl built. Following Carls passing in 1966, Irma went to work at Pioneer Village and stayed until her retirement at age 65. She married Emil Baker in 1980 and tragically he died shortly thereafter. She continued to live in her cherished home until summer of 2004 at which time health problems forced her to hospital and Pioneer Village. Mother was an open-minded individual who cared about others. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. The family would like to thank Dr. Carol Geddes, the staff at Pasqua Hospital, and especially the staff of the third floor at Pioneer Village for their care and comfort. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 4825 Dewdney Avenue on Friday, March 11, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Bob Leeson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Regina Humane Society (mom loved dogs), P.O. Box 3143, Regina S4P 3G7 would be appreciated by the family. Condolences to the family may be emailed to reception@speersfuneralchapel.com
