Mary Ellen Boyle (Smith)
Born Regina N.W.T. - December 22, 1902, passed away March 18, 2005.
Predeceased by her husband John Joseph Boyle in 1962; her parents Thomas Watson and Ellen Elizabeth Smith; brothers Harvey and Howard Smith; sisters Edna Smith and Evelyn Evoy. Mary Ellen is survived by her son Kevin (Sandra) Boyle; grandchildren James (Christine) Boyle of New York, Sean (Jennifer) of Vancouver, Erin (Mike) Wagner of Vancouver; and great-granddaughters Regan and Bridgette Boyle of New York. Mary Ellen was born in Regina and raised on the farm near Kings Park just outside of the city. She attended school at Victoria Plains and Pilot Butte and then received her Teaching Certificate after graduating from Regina College Normal School. She taught in Regina Elementary schools up to the time of her marriage. Mary Ellens husband, John, was the proprietor of the Kings Hotel in Regina. John was very active in Hotel Association affairs and they traveled extensively as he served in various capacities including President of the Saskatchewan Hotels Association and President of the Hotels Association of Canada. As a volunteer, Mary Ellen served as a member and executive of a number of organizations including the Lady Patronesses of the Grey Nuns Hospital, the Campion College Ladies Auxiliary, and the St. Annes Circle at Christ the King Parish. A long time supporter of the Red Cross Society, she served as Campaign Chair and President. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2005 at St. Annes Roman Catholic Church, 1701 Cowan Crescent, Regina, Saskatchewan with Father Neil Osiowy celebrant.
