Obituary of Georgina Emily Smylie
SMYLIE, Georgina Emily
With profound sadness the family of Georgina Smylie announces her passing on Friday, March 11, 2005 at the age of 85. She was predeceased by brothers David Smylie and William Smylie, her sister Ruby Horsfall, and her nephew Bill Smylie. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her sister Alice Smylie; her many friends; nieces Fae (Bill) Adams, Jordie Langdon, Alice Fenelon, Lynne (Ted) Rewcastle; and nephews George (Wendy) Horsfall, and Bill (Andrea) Horsfall; also numerous grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins and their children. Georgina was born June 15, 1919 and grew up in the farming community of Star City, SK. She served in WW II with the Canadian Womens Army Corps in London, England, and in Appledorn, Holland. After the war she made her home in Regina where she worked for the DVA, co-ordinating benefits and medical services for veterans. She was an ardent supporter of the Royal Canadian Legion. She enjoyed curling and was a passionate Riders fan. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina. A private interment will take place in Star City, SK. Flowers are gratefully declined.
