Obituary of Shirley Betty Hitziou

HITZIOU, Shirley December 23, 1928 - April 8, 2012 It is with great sadness that we announce that on Easter Sunday mom passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.Mom was born in Lucky Lake, SK and spent many years outside helping her mom and dad on the farm.She attended 3 years of Bible college in Herbert, SK and Abbotsford, BC where she studied and memorized many verses of the Bible. Her favorite being "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and he will direct your path (Prov 3:5,6)."After many years of praying she was finally blessed with her one and only grandchild Giorgo - Constantin in 2003. He brought her great joy.She enjoyed her family and friends and going to church. She loved to read, especially her bible and she also enjoyed riding her bike and spending time at our farm.She was predeceased by her loving husband Constantin (Gus) who also died at Easter, her father Abe Quiring, sister Marion, and brothers-in-law John & Emil Hitziou.Left to cherish her memory is daughter Faye (Adonis), grandson Giorgo-Constantin, mother Marie Quiring, sister Miriam, Dwight (Ruth) Quiring, Marlene (Les) Frogatt. Sister-in-laws Vaso and Marika Hitziou. Numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends in Greece. The family wishes to thank Dr. Wally Temple (surgeon) - Foothills hospital in Calgary who gave mom the extra 10 years he promised. Physicians and friends Dr. V Wojcik, Dr. S Karunakaran, Dr I. Ooi, Dr. A Verma, Dr. B Prasad, Dr. Abdulhadi and the nurses of unit 6F General Hospital for their exceptional care and concern.A celebration of her life will be held on Sat, April 14th at 11:00 am at the Regina Apostolic Church, 808 Assiniboine Ave E. Interment at Riverside Memorial Gardens to follow.Mom felt it was important to help the poor children and to give to the needy.
