Obituary of Alfred Riddell

RIDDELL - On Thursday, April 21, 2005 Alfred William Riddell passed away peacefully at the age of 87 years with his family at his side. Al was born on February 14, 1918 near Loomis, Saskatchewan to Harry and Christina Riddell and is predeceased by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Al is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elsie and their children Allan Riddell (Marion) of Saskatoon, Linda Tidball (Allan) of Regina and Randy Riddell (Debbie) of Regina. He is also survived by his grandchildren Darla Tidball, Derek Riddell (Amanda), Allan Jon Tidball (Amara), Karsen Riddell, Tiauna Riddell and Alana Burgler; one brother Ted Riddell of Regina; and two sisters Edith Riddell and Christine Trenowden, both of Newmarket, ON; as well as nieces, nephews and many friends. Al moved to Regina in the early 1940s where he met and married his wife Elsie. They raised their family in the Broders Annex and Dominion Heights areas of the city. Al worked as a mechanic for over 30 years with Midwest Motors (now Capital Motors) and was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, bowling, card playing, and gardening (his special pride being his tomatoes) and could always be counted on for practical jokes. Al was a kind, good natured, uncomplaining and loving man who will be greatly missed by his family. The family would like to extend their many thanks to the entire staff of Unit 4A at the Regina Pasqua Hospital. Their exceptional care and compassion went beyond duty and was greatly appreciated. Funeral Service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 1037 Victoria Ave. Regina, on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Glen Stever officiating. Interment in Regina Memorial Gardens.
