Obituary of Michael Fellinger

FELLINGER - It is with extreme sadness and sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Michael Fellinger Sr. On Sunday, May 1, 2005 Michael joined our Lord Saviour from our loving arms. Michael is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-six years, Anne (nee Sowa) and devoted sons Michael Jr.; Kurt (Diana (nee Kress) and precious grandchildren Laura and Tanner (Shaunda) and cherished great-grandson, Jake. He also leaves his sister Anne and brother Henry; as well as many sisters and brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his parents Heinrich and Rosalia and brother John. Michael was born July 15, 1926 the eldest of four children to Heinrich and Rosalia Fellinger in the village of Zichgdorf, Banat, Yugoslavia. At the age of nine months they immigrated to Canada and settled in Regina. Michael attended Haultain, Wetmore, Balfour and Central Collegiate. At the early age of ten Michael worked for Purity Meat Market, where he realized his love and passion for the meat business. In 1959 Michael and Anne opened Fellingers Meat Merchants in Regina and later Moose Jaw. They enjoyed many years of business before retiring with their son Kurt and his family carrying on the Fellinger tradition in the Cathedral area. Michael retired to enjoy his beach property, flowers and especially his beloved grandchildren. He will forever be remembered for his smart business sense, sharp wit, charming personality, wonderful sense of humour, and generosity. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, May 4th at 7:30 p.m. at the Descent of the Holy Spirit, Ukrainian Orthodox Sobor, 1305 - 12th Avenue with Father Brent Kuzyk as celebrant. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 5th at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Cathedral, 3125 - 13th Avenue with Father Louis Kubash as celebrant.
