Obituary of Gerald Ward

WARD - It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Gerald Ward on Friday, May 6, 2005 at the General Hospital at the age of 83. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Una; his children, Robert (Shirley), Gerry (Marnie), Don (Carol), and Brian (Candace); his brother Allen; sister Isabel; nine grandchildren, Robert, Kevin, Chris, Darren, Carissa, Jason, Tyler, Corey, and Kerri; and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father William and mother Millie; brothers, Clayton and Harold, and sister Geraldine. Gerry was born at Osage and spent his youth at Zehner. He moved to Regina, with his new bride Una, and began work with the CNR. Their marriage of 63 years was a testimony to enduring love. Teenage dances, fishing, sports, and cars were part of his legacy to his sons. His next career choice was as a stationary engineer at the General Hospital. He enjoyed golf, bowling and curling with his many friends. On his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed several years in sunny Yuma. Dad will be remembered for his Sunday poker games, his social graces (what a dancer!), and for an incredible pride of his sons. He passed away due to a stroke, that took him quickly. He will be missed and always loved. The Memorial Service will be held at St. Lukes Anglican Church, 3233 Argyle Road, on Saturday, May 14, 2005 at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Willie Lourens officiating. Condolences may be emailed to the family at reception@speersfuneralchapel.com
