Obituary of Jean Margaret Voss
VOSS, Jean Margaret, age 90, born on September 13, 1914 at Richardson, SK, passed away peacefully in the early morning of June 10, 2005 at Sunset Extendicare. Predeceased by her husband Albert Karl Voss; parents Arthur Smith and Mary Findlay McLean; brothers Roderick Alan McLean and John Findlay McLean; sister Lillian Lindsay Wobeser (McLean). Jean is survived by her only son Douglas Albert Voss, wife Linda (Cheston) and grandchildren Jeremy, Andrea, and Courtney Voss, all of Brantford, Ontario. Jean was married to Albert on May 31, 1946, built a farmstead and farmed in the Grand Coulee/Regina area from 1946 until retirement then relocated to Regina in 1984. When Jean was a young age, the McLean family moved from Richardson to the Evesham, SK area to farm and then returned permanently to farm in the Regina/Grand Coulee area in 1936. Jean received her elementary education in Richardson, SK, Grade 11 in Senlac, SK in 1931 and finally a business certificate from the Regina School of Commerce in 1940. Jean and Albert were longtime members of the Grand Coulee United Church and were active in many community functions. Jean attended and served in many Womens Group activities including UCW and WI. Other interests included family, friends, knitting, reading, news and issues affecting the prairies, and travel. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 13, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue with Rev. Jack Oglesby officiating. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park.
