Obituary of Douglas Allen Lee

LEE, DOUGLAS ALLEN_passed away peacefully on Monday, June 13th, 2005 at the age of 79. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on May 29, 1926 he was educated there and attended the Winnipeg School of Fine Arts. During the war he served overseas from 1944 to 1945 with the Royal Canadian Navy. Doug then entered the broadcasting industry in 1949 (CKX) radio in Brandon as announcer and latterly Production Manager. On the advent of television in Brandon (1955) he was appointed Program Manager of CKX TV until 1959 when he joined CKCK TV in Regina as Production Manager. He retired as Director of Administration and Community Relations in 1991 and became Executive Director of the Lorne and Evelyn Johnson Foundation retiring from this position in 2002. He is survived by his son John, daughter-in-law Janet and grandsons Brendan and Justin Lee of Regina; daughter Judith and son-in-law David Henry and grandson Matthew Henry of Treherne, Manitoba, and his special friend Edith Young. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins across Western Canada. Doug was predeceased by his loving wife Lorna Lee (nee) McKenzie in 1998, his father Archie, his mother Pearl and his brother Clayton. As an active member of his community and with dedication to his country he was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 1985. Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, June 17th, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at All Saints Anglican Church, 142 Massey Road, Regina, Sask. If so desired tributes may be made to the Foundation for Crohn's and Colitis, the Canadian Heart Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, All Saint's Anglican Church or a Charity of choice.
