Obituary of William Robert Windrum
WINDRUM, WILLIAM ROBERT_ Bob Windrum passed away on June 21, 2005, at the age of 95 years. He was born in Drinkwater, Saskatchewan, but lived most of his long life in Regina, where he and his wife Jessie raised a family of 6 children. Bob drove busses for Greyhound from 1935 until his retirement at age 62, having driven more than 2 million miles. He immediately began driving for Moose Mountain Lines and drove for another 12 years. When he retired, he bought a motorcycle and tried his hand at downhill skiing. He remained young in spirit despite his advancing years. Bob was outgoing, generous, and genuine. He would strike up a conversation with anyone, undeterred by social status or outward appearance, and as a result he had many friends. He would help anyone who needed help for no more reason than that. If a person who needed help was family, there is nothing in his power he would not do, often to his personal detriment. Bob is predeceased by his wife, Jessie Windrum and daughter June Windrum. He leaves to observe his passing his children: Tom Windrum (Edna), Doreen Robertson (Bill), George Windrum (Marion), Del Windrum (Faye) Bev Clarke (Dick) and Wayne Windrum (Roberta); 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. He will be missed and lovingly remembered. A family graveside service will take place in Memorial Gardens (Regina), Victoria Avenue East, on Monday, June 27 at 2:00 PM. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM at Speer's Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina.
