Obituary of Mabel Isabelle Hills,
HILLS, Mabel Isabelle (nee Dawson) passed away surrounded by her family on Friday July 22, 2005 at Extendicare Sunset Regina at age 82. Beloved wife and companion of Gordon Hills of Regina and mother of Eldon R. Hills of New York City, USA. Mabel was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Beatrice Dawson, two sisters, Ada in infancy and Evelyn Romich; sister-in-law Velma (Fred) Stephenson and nephews Merle Stephenson and Leonard Hills. Mabel is survived by her husband Gordon, son Eldon, sister Ellen (Paul) Dojack, brother-in-law Elmer (Loretta) Romich and nephews Aird (Lisa) Romich, Gerald (Wendy) Romich, and Darwin (Joanne) Romich. She is also survived by brother-in-law Lloyd (Temple) Hills and nephews Lyle (Jody) Hills, Robert Stephenson, Gordon Stephenson and David (Jamie) Stephenson. Mabel was born and raised in the Leross district and attended Millersdale School. In 1942 her family moved to Regina and shortly after Mabel started working at R. H. Williams Department Store (later to become Simpsons), where she worked from 1942 to 1964 and again from 1972 to 1979. Mabel was an active member of Carmichael United Church and the Auxiliary of the United Commercial Travelers of America. Mabels pleasures in life were dancing, gardening, traveling, card playing and visiting her friends. Mabel faced numerous health problems during her life, but always chose to make the best of these circumstances. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Extendicare Sunset for the love, care and compassion extended to Mabel during her stay there. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel. A funeral service in celebration of Mabels life will be conducted on Wednesday July 27, 2005 at 1:30pm, at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Ave., Rev. James Balfour officiating. Private internment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park. Flowers most gratefully declined.
