Obituary of Charles Roy Ames
AMES - On Wednesday, July 27, 2005, Charles Roy Ames, late of Milestone and Regina, passed away in his 93rd year. Predeceased by his parents, Charles and Margaret; sisters, Iola Johnston and Vera Widder; and first wife, Grace. Roy is survived by his wife, Edna Bradley; sons, Gordon (Caroline) of Regina, Trevor (Kathy) of Minneapolis, Minn.; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jeffrey; sisters Thelma Jacobs and Isabel Fea. In his early years Roy, in addition to farming with his father, attended the University of Saskatchewan and played saxophone in a dance band. He married Grace in 1949 and farmed full time in the Milestone district until Graces death in 1984. In 1987 he married Edna Bradley. He was active in the CCF/NDP Party, the United Church, Wheat Pool, Credit Union, Co-operative movements and the Regina Male Voice Choir. He enjoyed many University of Regina Seniors Education Centre classes in later years, and also traveling. Thanks to the staff of Dove House for their kindnesses above and beyond. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in Westminster United Church, 3025 - 13th Avenue with Rev. Jack Bray officiating. Interment in Milestone Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in memoriam, to Westminster United Church Memorial Fund or a charity of your choice.
