Obituary of Irene Baron

BARON - Irene Kathleen Jones, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2005 in Regina, SK at the age of 83 years. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Don; their son Deane, daughter-in-law, Lynn and by their grandchildren Jennifer, aged 18 and Scott, aged 12, who live in Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by her brother, Bob Jones and his wife, Shirley, in Toronto and by her late brother Cyrils wife, Betty, and their seven children and their grandchildren in Ireland. Irene was born September 1, 1921 in Donard, County Wicklow, Ireland. Her father was Henry Jones whose family moved from Wales to County Wicklow Ireland. Henry married Bessie Murphy, who was the seventh generation on the Murphy family farm, Bushfield. Irenes brother Bob was born in 1918, raised on the farm and then lived and worked in England, then Hong Kong and later moved to Canada. Her brother Cyril, born in 1927, took over the family farm in Ireland, and he and his wife, Betty raised seven children there. Rene was raised on the Bushfield farm, attended Collegiate School, Celbridge, as a boarder, then went to Northlands University in Londonderry in Northern Ireland and graduated two years later in Domestic Science. She came to Canada in 1950, worked for the Ontario government and married Don in 1952. She was a loving mother for their son Deane. And with Dons career as a journalist and author, the family was continually on the move, living in Toronto, Winnipeg, Oakville, Calgary and Regina. With her ever smiling personality and her warm hospitality and superb cooking, she welcomed an endless parade of friends and business acquaintances into their home. She left happy memories with them all. Irene will be greatly missed by her family and by the many friends she made over the years. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 12, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church, 2170 Albert Street with Rev. Eric Muirhead officiating. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park.
