Obituary of Laura Anastascia MacKinnon

MacKINNON - Laura Anastasia MacKinnon (nee) Townsend, born April 7, 1912, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 10, 2005 in Regina SK. Predeceased by her husband, Leslie Hugh MacKinnon; sister, Hilda Lohman, Pearl; and brothers. Laura is survived by her loving family, nephews, Garvin (Janice), Barry (Doreen); nieces, Beryl (Laurie); Keltye and Vickie and her dear friends. Laura was schooled in a one room school house until Grade 8. She then moved to Regina and attended Regina Business School. She was a stenographer with MacLeans Magazine for two or three years. She then began her 32 year career with the Leader Post in the Advertising Department. Laura was a loving, generous, fiesty lady. One was always treated as a special person in their home. Loved those goodies, Laura. Special thanks to Ken Orr, a trusted, compassionate friend and exceptionally helpful to our family. Special thanks for the extra special care given by the nurses and staff on the 3rd floor of the Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue with Rev. John Haas officiating. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in memoriam, to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 2360 - 2nd Avenue, Regina, S4R 1A6.
