Obituary of Theresa Irene Adams
ADAMS - Irene (Rene) Adams, late of Regina, passed away August 14, 2005. Theresa Irene Butler was born November 24, 1922 to Patrick (Paddy) Butler and Ellen (Nel) Quirk in Wavertree, West Derby, England. The immediate family soon came to include, Sonny, Terrie, Frank, Jack, Bernard, Loll (Laurence), Margaret and Sheila. Just before the 2nd World War broke out Irene worked for Lockhead Hudson as a "fitter, maintaining aircraft batteries, She then joined the Womens Air Force (WAF) at the start of the War as a charging board operator, maintaining the RAF batteries. This was when she met Alan. Rene married Alan F. Adams in 1944 and subsequently joined him as a war bride in Canada with their first son Alan (Anna) Junior in 1946. Their two other sons, Larry (Connie), and Brian soon made up the family with grandchildren, Shannon, Kelly, Andrea, Gerad, Michelle, Reagan, Amy, and great grandchild Britain to follow. Irene worked at Woolworths, United Cigar Store, Simpsons and The Bay, as well as at the Post Office during the Christmas season to earn money for those necessary extras. Irene and Alan thoroughly enjoyed their trips to the "States, especially to Seattle, Depoe Bay, Reno and Minot, for tobacco, books and some of the better American brews. On coming to Canada, Al and Rene lived with Als family, Jerome and Betty Adams in Regina, along with Bob and Vivian having left for Religious Orders, and Jerry, Marion, and Valerie having to make room until Al, Irene and Alan Junior went up to Saskatoon while Al completed his Commerce Degree. The family returned to join Als father Jerome in his practice, as Chartered Accountants. Irene was a spirited, generous, industrious woman who loved to dance and sing.
