Obituary of Una Vera Ward
WARD - It is with great sadness that the family announces the quiet passing away of Una Ward on Tuesday, August 17, 2005 at the Wascana Rehabilitation Hospital at the age of 81. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving sons and family members. Her children are: Robert (Shirley), Gerry (Marnie), Don (Carol) and Brian (Candace); her brothers; Thorton, David and Earl and sisters Minerva and Millie; nine grandchildren: Robert, Kevin, Chris, Darren, Carissa, Jason, Tyler, Corey and Kerri; and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her father Lloyd and mother Jenny, brothers Lloyd, Elmer, Everett and sisters Fern, Sadie and Ruth. Una was born in Wilcox, Saskatchewan and spent her youth there. She moved to Regina, with her new husband, Gerald, and began work as a homemaker. Their marriage of 63 years was a testimony to enduring love. Teenage dances, fishing, sports and school were part of her legacy to her sons as she and Gerald worked together to raise their four boys. Once the four boys were in school she worked with Co-op Grocery and Robert Simpsons. She was an extreme competitor as displayed in her enthusiasm for shuffleboard, golf and curling. During retirement Una and Gerald enjoyed ten retirement winters with friends in sunny Yuma. Mom will be remembered for the tough yet tender love of her sons and her incredible ability to teach the whole neighbourhood how to dance. Her priorities were always her family and her sons are extremely grateful for her love and support. She passed away after a wonderful visit from her four boys last weekend. She will be missed but not forgotten by all those she left behind. She has gone to join her soul mate Gerry and we take comfort in that. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Lukes Anglican Church on Saturday, August 20th, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Willie Lourens presiding. Interment to follow in Riverside Memorial Park. Condolences to the family may be emailed to reception@speersfuneralchapel.com
