Obituary of Florence Evelyn Quiring

QUIRING - Florence "Flo" (nee Skene) of Regina passed away peacefully on April 17, 2012 at the tender age of 94. Florence is predeceased by parents Alex & Jennie Skene, her husband Peter, sisters Myrtle (in infancy), Margaret Sorensen; brothers Albert, Norman, Raymond and Gordon. Flo is survived by her children Allan (Mildred); Don (Jean); Rose (Joe) Sunseri; grandchildren Curtis, Cheryl (Trent), Cory (Nola), Dwayne (Joy), Rhonda, Jennifer (Ryan); Lina & Sal and many great grandchildren. Her sister Gertie (Herb) Crane; sister-in-law Marie Skene; many nieces, nephews and friends.Florence was born in Deloraine, Man. January 10, 1918 moving to Kinistino, SK at a young age. She married Peter in 1941 before moving to Regina where she has lived independently until her passing. Her many talents included gardening, ceramics, knitting, quilting, painting, even helping to build the family home. Flo was a founding member of Zion United Church; and, we believe the last original choir member. She also belonged to the Quilters. She was a real card shark especially playing conasta, which she loved (as she had "horseshoes"). She has a great sense of humor right to her dying day, always enjoying the ribbing of her family (mostly by the grand & great-grandkids). She was their "COOL" Grandma! Flo was a friend to all, welcoming newcomers, always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. She was loved by all and will be missed by many. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Zion United Church, 120 Broad Street with Rev. Ken Robinson officiating. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
