Obituary of Melvina Moser

MOSER - Melvina It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Melvina on October 1, 2005, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Predeceased by son David and infant daughter, parents Joseph and Susan (Mengel) Fahlman, sister Mary (Joseph Senger), brothers Lawrence (Mary), Joseph, Albert (Bridget), Leo and stepbrother Eugene; in-laws, Joe Bulai, Jacob and Theresa Moser, Joseph Moser, Lucas Moser and Henry Moser. Left to mourn her memory, after 63 years of marriage, her husband John and children John, Nancy (Alex McNiven), daughter-in-law Barbara Moser, Richard (Janice), Melvin (Kelly), Gregory, and Jeffrey (Nichole), Mary Ann Moser and Jane Moser; grandchildren Jonathan (Cathy), Craig, Derek, Shawn (Christina), Jessica, Eric, Jennifer (Brodie), Carolyn (Chris), River and Sinjin; and great grandchildren Madison, Duran, Hamish, Willem and Harrison. She will also be sadly missed by other family members Agnes Moser, Kathleen Fahlman, Susan Jalbert (Aurele), Margaret Bulai, Katherine Moser, Anne Moser and numerous nieces and nephews. Melvina was a dedicated mother, working full time raising seven children and then later sharing in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom was a homemaker and multi-tasker way before the terms were fashionable. She created a warm and inviting home which was like a beacon to family and friends. We always knew that there would be room for one more person at the table. Moms kitchen was the heart of the home - whether it was a Christmas dinner for 20 or a home-made pizza when we got home late at night, she was in her element; her cabbage rolls, cinnamon buns and homemade pies were legendary. Mom loved to read and do crossword puzzles but the only time she could achieve this was late at night when the house was quiet. She was a competitive crib player who loved to be on the winning team and always had time to play board or card games with her children and grandchildren. Mom and Dad had an extremely active social life (often more lively than their childrens!) and even though Mom did not like to fly they traveled extensively over the years. Mom was involved in the church community and was an honorary life member of the Catholic Womens League - ready to volunteer whenever called upon. Mom enjoyed gardening and looked forward to the springtime when she could plan out her flower beds for the summer. Mom was an amateur meteorologist keeping daily weather records for the last 40 years. She was also the family historian documenting events through carefully maintained photo albums. Mom lived the life she wanted - on her terms and with no regrets. The family wishes to thank oncologists Drs. Salem, Niilson, Shields and Dr. Klein, the nurses and palliative care givers from the Pasqua Hospital and the William Booth Grace Hospice for the care given to Mom. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anne Roman Catholic Church, 1701 Cowan Crescent, on Tuesday, October 4th, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Presiding celebrant Father Neil Osiowy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit, Pasqua Hospital, the William Booth Grace Hospice or the Saskatchewan Cancer Society.
