DUFOUR (Edward Victor) - Peacefully and quietly on the evening of Friday, September 30th, 2005 Ed began his final flight. Born in Canora on 19 March 1923, Eds early years were spent in Fife Lake where he attended elementary school followed by high school at Campion College in Regina. He joined the RCAF in 1942 and rose to the rank of Flying Officer as a pilot with the 429 Squadron stationed in Europe for two years. After World War II Ed returned to Regina, married Searle Pawson in 1948 and joined the needle trade. Initially with the Singer Sewing Machine Corporation for 23 years in Tisdale, Prince Albert, Medicine Hat and Regina, and then 17 years with Brother International as the rep for Saskatchewan and Manitoba working from the family home at Regina Beach. Ed is survived by his wife Searle Dufour with whom he shared fifty-seven wonderful years of marriage, daughter Kathleen of Roberts Creek, B.C. and son Gary and daughter-in-law Sin MacPherson of Perth, Western Australia; and three precious granddaughters: Hollis, Meredith and Hilaire. Predeceased by his parents Walter and Kathleen (nee Kosczowsky) and a brother Frank, Ed is survived by two brothers: Joe (Marge) and Larry (Helen), two sisters: Lorena Tuepah and Bernice Dunsmoor; sister-in-law Pat. Also survived by Shirley, Lloyd (Mary) and other members of the Pawson family. Ed was so proud of his many nieces and nephews. Remembered for his tireless commitment to community service Ed was in the Lions Club for 53 years, active in the Legion, Royal United Services Institute, North West Travellers and the South Shore Community Foundation. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed golf, fishing and camping; but his true passions were flying, re-qualifying as a pilot in 1989; hiking, which took him to Pangnirtung, Baffin Island; and canoeing, the Mackenzie River in northern B.C. and along most of the Churchill River in Saskatchewan. A funeral mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church on Thursday, October 6th at 12 noon, followed by a remembrance reception in the Oak Room, Hotel Saskatchewan from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. If desired memorial donations may be made to the South Shore Community Foundation, Box 10, Regina Beach, S0G 4CO or to a charity of choice.
