Obituary of Arthur Harkness Hosie
HOSIE, Arthur Harkness. January 28, 1928 - October 9, 2005. Passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Predeceased by his wife, Paula, parents, Andrew and Ruth, and sister Elinor. Art was member of the Eastview Rotary Club, the Wascana Country Club and the Royal United Services Institute. He was a member and past President of the Regina Real Estate Board, and a Past President of the Regina Chamber of Commerce. He was a prominent figure in the Regina Real Estate community for over fifty years. He devoted much of his time to volunteer work within Regina. Art loved the outdoors and spent many days in the country with family and friends and his many canine companions. He was a enthusiastic fan of the U of R Womens Basketball team and the Saskatchewan Roughriders football team. Art was a long time member and Past President of the Antapa Club and was very involved with Ducks Unlimited Canada. Art will be remembered most as a gentleman, kind and generous with a keen sense of humour. Art will be fondly remembered and truly missed by Andrew (Gena), Robert (Karen), Patti (Doug Strand), and Pam, his grandchildren: Megan, Ryan, Tatum and Brett, brother Bob (Marg), nieces Jill (Bill), Judie (Jim), Jane (Jamie), nephews Andy Baker (Patricia), Tom (Karen), Rob (Brenda) and many life-long friends. The family wishes to thank all of his many friends for their kindness and concern over the past weeks. Art maintained his dignity and humour while fighting bravely the many insurmountable challenges of his recent illness. Special thanks to all of the amazing Staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Pasqua Hospital for their compassion and devoted care. A memorial service will be held Saturday October 15, 2005 at 11AM at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, followed by a celebration of his life at the Royal United Services Institute.
