Obituary of Matthew Petrowicz

PETROWICZ, Matthew (Matt) November 24, 1918 - October 21, 2005 Matt Petrowicz died peacefully, surrounded by his family, from a heart attack and massive stroke. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Elsie (nee Manz), his daughter Betty Ann Brandsgard (Harry) and son Roy (Cynthia), his grandchildren, Greg Brandsgard (Karmen), Angela Mueller (Dale), Dasha Polyanskaya, Natasha Morris (Jason) and Blayne Petrowicz (Michael West), his great grandchildren, Aundrea and Colin Mueller, Hayden Brandsgard and Kylen Morris. Matt is also survived by his sisters, Eva Seib, Emily Weisbrot, Elsie Jewell (Gordon), Dorothy Kelly (Russ) and Eula Wagner, and sister-in-law Matilda Petrovicz. He was predeceased by his parents, Anton and Elizabeth (nee Orb), his twin brother, Carl, his sisters, Kay Ring and Martha Morris and grandson, Ryan Petrowicz. Matt and Elsie farmed in the Southey district, Valley View Farm, from 1942 - 1987. In 1993, they moved from the farm to Regina. They were presently residing at Broadway Terrace. He served numerous years on the Southey Lutheran Church Board and Cornwall School Board. Matt and Elsie traveled to Yuma, Arizona for the winter months for twenty-five years. Matt would never pass up a game of cards or pool. He loved to fish, especially from the dock of Roys lodge. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, 1037 Victoria Avenue, with Rev. Glen Stever officiating. The family thanks the Emergency Room Staff and Medical ICU Staff for their excellent and compassionate care.
