Obituary of Gordon Murray Forbes

FORBES- Gordon Murray March 25, 1916 - October 22, 2005 Murray passed away after a long illness. He is survived by his beloved wife Edna, his sister Atholl, his brother-in-law Roy Smith and his wife Janet and their family. Murray loved Regina and its people and spent his life here with the exception of 6 years service with the Royal Canadian Artillery. He served in the Italian Campaign and in NW Europe with the 17th Field Regiment RCA. When he returned to Regina he practiced law for 12 years and served as a Justice on the Court of Queens Bench for 29 years. He and Edna married in 1952. He had many interests including writing, as in writing and editing the History of 17 Canadian Field Regiment R.C.A. 5th Canadian Armoured Division. Murray was on the board of Knox Metropolitan United Church. He enjoyed curling, golf and sailing. He was a Past President of the Royal United Services Institute, Wascana Winter Club and a member of the Assiniboia Club. Murray spent many happy hours at the bridge table with life-long pals. He will be missed by his family, extended family and friends who have wonderful memories to share. Heartfelt thanks are extended to the staff at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre (DVA Unit) for the compassionate care during the last year and a half. A celebration of Murrays life will be held at a Memorial Service in Knox Metropolitan Church, 2340 Victoria Ave., Wednesday October 26 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Robert A. Kitchen officiating.
