Obituary of Gerald Robert Bonar

On Wednesday May 29, 2013 Gerry passed away quickly and peacefully surrounded by his entire family after a short illness. Born June 27, 1927 in Highview SK, Gerry is predeceased by his father Jim (1982) and mother Nora (1999), sisters Rebecca (infancy) and Marjorie Russell (1978) and one brother Gordon “Doc” (1994). He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Bev (nee Dusterbeck); his sons Brad (Sharon and Alice) of Adelaide, Australia; Curtis (Lisa, Mirabel and Ellis) of Regina, SK; and daughter Michele (Lloyd, Laurel and Leland) Curley of Dhaka, Bangladesh who were the joys of his life. Gerry also leaves behind his brother John Bonar of Wawota, SK, and numerous nieces and nephews. He had many occupations in life from being a teacher, a farmer, a general store owner, an air traffic controller, property rentals, an entrepreneur and retired from Revenue Canada where he met his wife Bev. Gerry was well respected for his coaching and overall involvement in community sports such as hockey, baseball and softball. He loved to participate in and watch hockey and curling throughout his life. We are diminished by our loss, but find peace knowing Gerry is in a better place. We would like to thank the many nurses and doctors at the Pasqua Hospital ICU unit who helped us through this difficult time. A Memorial Service and Reception will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Darold Sauer officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in memoriam, to a charity of your choice. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com
