Obituary of Pearl Ledgerwood

PEARL LEDGERWOOD Pearl was released from this life on Tuesday, June 4, 2013. She was born on April 15, 1920 in Piapot, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her parents, W.C. and Janet Latter. Pearl is survived by her daughter, Donna, of Calgary; her son, Archie (Ruth) of Regina; and her two grandchildren, Ryan and Raylene. A stroke in December 2009 left Pearl unable to participate in the activities she so thoroughly enjoyed -- meeting the McDonald’s group every weekday for coffee and a muffin, worshipping with her Avonhurst Pentecostal family where she attended faithfully, attending Women’s Aglow events or Men’s Fellowship banquets, regularly getting together with friends to play games (Skip-Bo and Rook being favourites), and enjoying the coffees, lunches and outings with those that knew her as Grandma Pearl. She took special delight in being part of the lives of her grandchildren, Ryan and Raylene. Pearl was known to many as Grandma Pearl. Many young people called her that and got to know her as a friend and supporter. As they grew up, married and had families, their children also knew her as Grandma Pearl. Pearl’s presence, prayers and support will be missed by all those who knew her and, in particular, those who knew her as Grandma Pearl. Her embracing hugs will be missed by all. Pearl remained steadfast in her belief in God and was never known to complain. We are confident she is in a better home, active once more. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Sunset Extendicare who administered care to her and got to know and appreciate her, and also thanks to her friends who faithfully visited.
