Obituary of Grahame Parker Scott

GRAHAME PARKER SCOTT Grahame Scott, 23, of Regina, died tragically on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was born September 22, 1989, the son of Sandy Crighton and Doug Scott and brother to Stephanie Scott. He graduated from Dr. Martin Leboldus high school and obtained certification as an outdoor power equipment technician from SIAST in 2009. In 2011 he returned to SIAST where he was certified as apprentice heavy equipment mechanic in 2012. Grahame is survived by his parents Sandy and Doug of Regina, and his sister Stephanie who resides with her partner Jon Stack in Bath, England. He also leaves his grandparents Cynthia Crighton of Regina, Connie Scott of Regina, and Herb Scott of Regina; aunt Janice Crighton, uncle Daniel Bourgeois, and cousins Zacharie and Renee Bourgeois of Barrie, Ontario; uncle Brent Scott of Regina, and cousin Joshua Borys of Weyburn. Grahame was predeceased by his grandfather, Jim Crighton of Regina. Grahame is also survived by his adopted family, the Neufelds (Kay, Ian, Patrick and Brennan) as well as extended family and close friends who cared for him deeply. Grahame was a quiet, gentle, and sensitive young man who was loyal and protective of those he cared for. Those lucky enough to become his friend knew they had his friendship for life. He was quick to lend a hand or offer words of support and had a keen sense of when others could use his help. He was comfortable with people of all ages and enjoyed spending time with younger cousins as well as his grandparents. Grahame was well loved by a large circle of moms and dads in Regina and at Katepwa Lake - his real home. He had an uncanny ability to arrive for visits at meal times, typically declining his host’s offer to stay for a meal, but then staying anyway. For Grahame, the simple things in life were the best things. Relationships mattered and he worked to maintain them with family, friends, and co-workers. He felt most useful when he was fixing someone’s boat, snowmobile, or ATV and was most comfortable in a pair of coveralls and completely covered in grease. He enjoyed country living and country music and could always pick the winner on The Voice. He enjoyed watching baseball and was a diehard Boston Red Sox fan. He loved the outdoors and was an avid snowmobiler and snowboarder. Grahame felt most at home when he was somewhere up high on a mountain or sitting quietly by a campfire by a lake in the Qu’Appelle Valley. Grahame left us just as things were unfolding as they should and he was attaining the elements of the good life he imagined. He was doing the work that he loved, repairing equipment at Kramer in Regina. He enjoyed the company of his co-workers at Kramer, felt part of a team, and was looking forward to returning to SIAST in the fall to continue his training. He had begun to plan seriously for his financial future and was contemplating buying a home of his own. He had a network of good friends - young men and women of exceptional character who loved him and who he could count on. Happily, Grahame had also fallen in love over the past year, forming a strong bond with a young woman he cared for deeply. In typical Grahame style, he kept this evolving relationship on the “down low - really good things don’t need to be advertised.” Grahame was taken from us far too early. His passing leaves an emotional hole in many lives that will never be filled. Although gone from this life, he will never be forgotten and will always be with us in spirit. We hope and pray he is now in a better place, continuing to “have our back” until we can meet again. A Celebration of Grahame’s life will be held at Lakeview United Church, 3200 McCallum Avenue, Regina on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend Jo Mader officiating. Friends so wishing may make donations, in memoriam, to the charity of their choice. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com
