I studied Ibsen with Dr. Chamberlain in a Masters class in the late 1970's. Ibsen continues to be one of my favourite playwrights and the fact that I became a playwright myself could in no small way be attributed to the passion John brought to the subject. He was a very kind man and a fine teacher. My condolences to the family.

I was a close friend of John at Leeds University and lost touch soon afterwards. What a great and caring friend he was. Now, I only wish that we'd not drifted apart.

So sorry to hear about John's passing. He was always such an interesting person, and in the musical and Sunday School work I did with the boys, John was always very collaborative.
