Obituary of Edith Alice Zick

EDITH ALICE ZICK On Sunday, July 7, 2013, our beloved Edith passed away at the age of 83 years. She was predeceased by her son and daughter and other family members who have gone on before her. Edith leaves behind, her loving husband Siegfried; twin daughters, Debbie Zick and Diane (Kim) Lupichuk; grandchildren, Tracy (Ryan) Smotra, James Zick and Jeffrey Lupichuk; and great-grandchild Cohen Smotra (her little prince). She also leaves behind, her brothers, Bruno (Diane) and Werner (Irene) Kussner; and sisters, Else Carstensen of Germany and Waltraut Fritsch; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Edith met her soul mate, Siegfried in Germany, and together they came to Canada in 1951 to start a new life. They settled in Yorkton, SK where they raised their three daughters. Edith loved being a wife and mother. Family was the most important thing in her life and she truly blessed us with that belief. Our home was always filled with the aroma of fresh baked bread and buns. Edith was a wonderful cook, making many delicious meals, especially rouladen at Christmas time. We enjoyed many family excursions together and our lives were filled with much laughter, joy and love through it all. Edith had many friends whose lives were enriched by her friendship. She especially enjoyed her monthly ladies get togethers for Chinese food. Edith and Siegfried celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on June 4th this year. We shared a close family supper together and laughed and talked through the evening. What a beautiful memory we have of that day! Thank you to Dr. Abdulla and the nursing staff on 3F at the Regina General Hospital, whose kindness and compassion helped us through this difficult time. Now, as we continue through life’s journey without Edith, her love for us will keep us strong and we will carry her in our hearts until we meet again. We will love and miss her every single day. A Private Family Gathering to celebrate her life will be held. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com
