Obituary of Walter Charles Smith

WALTER CHARLES SMITH April 20, 1922 - June 29, 2013 Wally passed away peacefully at the age of 91 years on Saturday, June 29, 2013 with his son Murray at his side at the Capital Care Dickinsfield Retirement home in Edmonton. For fifty-six years, he was the beloved husband of Mabel Deborah Smith (nee Swedberg) who passed away on July 28, 2004. Wally was born in Regina on April 20, 1922. He was an avid sports enthusiast for baseball, hockey, football, bowling and tennis. After being discharged from the Air Force from WWII, Wally worked for Sears in Regina and Montreal for a total of 42 years. Wally is lovingly remembered by his daughters Joan (Rick) Johnston and Claudia (Jeff) Smith; son Murray and seven grandchildren. Wally was predeceased by his parents; wife Mabel; son Rod; brother Ed and sister Min. Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park. Flowers most gratefully declined.
