Obituary of Elizabeth Isobella Stubel

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our Mom, Gramma, Nana, Sister, Auntie and friend, Beth Stubel, of Regina, Saskatchewan on Monday, July 22, 2013. Mom was born March 8, 1941; the fourth child of James Harold Menzies and Phylis Irene Menzies (nee Walton) in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan. Predeceased by her husband Arnold, son Derek, brother Bill, and brother Bert. Surviving to cherish her memory and to celebrate her life are: daughter Darla (Duane Brock), sons: Daryl (Laurie), Denny (Danita), and Devin (Carla). Mom was blessed with two granddaughters: Krysta (Justin Nelson), and Desiree (Evan Locke); eight grandsons: Mikel (Jill Weinbender), Taylor, Callan, Eli, Blake, Owen, Ethan, and Carson; four great-grandsons: Riley, Brady, Seth and Lenox. Our extended family also includes her step-grandchildren: Adam Brock, his sister Sara (Kyle Carson) and their children Kaden, Emma, and Grace. She is also survived by her brothers: Allan (Terry) and Jim (Ellen), her sister Sharon (Grant), her sisters-in-law: Annette and Jeanette; and many nieces and nephews whose lives are forever changed by the loss of Auntie Beth. She will also be missed and remembered by many friends, neighbours, and honorary family members who have lost their ‘Momma Stubel’. And last, but not least, her best friend, Shilo. Mom grew up in Hudson Bay Saskatchewan; moving to Regina as a young wife and mother. She dedicated her early married life to building the foundation of her legacy - her family and her home. Her children and her family always came first. The love she had for her family was evident in her beautiful home, yard and garden. She was an amazing woman; always so proud of her family. Her door was always open to everyone, and anyone who entered was treated to Momma Stubel hospitality. The number of Mom’s family members increased dramatically when she went to work at Regina Pioneer Village in the early eighties. Retiring in 2006, she enjoyed cross stitching, her paper route and spending time with her family, both in Regina and back in Hudson Bay. Her greatest joy was focusing on her family, especially her grandchildren and always ensuring the cookie jar was full. Mom was happiest when her house was full and her family was around her. A Celebration of mom’s life will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 4825 Dewdney Avenue, Regina on Monday, July 29, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Leeson officiating. Private family interment at Riverside Memorial Park at a later date. Flowers gratefully declined. Those wishing are invited to make a donation in Mom’s name to the Regina Pioneer Village Resident Fund, 430 Pioneer Drive, Regina SK S4T 6L8 or the Medical/Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Regina General Hospital, 1440 14th Avenue, Regina SK, S4P 0W5. There are no words to express the love and gratitude we have for the outpouring of support we have received from so many people. We thank you all. We are forever grateful for the amazing efforts and care of the staff of MPICU.
