Obituary of Anton Schaefer

ANTON “TONY” SCHAEFER August 14, 1919 - August 1, 2013 Tony passed away peacefully in Regina on Thursday, August 1, 2013. He was predeceased by his parents, Katherine and Peter Schaefer; his wife Anne; his daughter Barbara McConnell; five brothers, Martin, Leonard, Steve, Peter and Lawrence; and one sister Bernadine. Tony is survived by his son Donald (Brenda) Schaefer; daughter Donna (Ron) Zukowsky; grandchildren, Neal Schaefer (Carolyn Draper), Mark Schaefer (Trelee Sandvold), Jeff Schaefer (Rebecca Fiissel Schaefer), Amanda McConnell, Jennifer McConnell and Matthew Zukowsky; great-grandchild Pearl Schaefer; brothers George (Valerie) and John (Carrie), sisters-in-law Ella, Josephine, Marianne and Verna; brother-in-law Len (Irene); and numerous nieces and nephews. After working as a teacher, serving in the Army during WWII, and working at Canada Post, Dad happily retired in 1979 at the age of 60. These years were some of the best, spending time traveling, curling, playing bingo, visiting with family and friends, tinkering in his garage and always looking after his prized tomatoes and geraniums. Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined.
