Obituary of Alina Walthers
DR. ALINA WALTHER
Alina passed away peacefully at the Regina General Hospital on Tuesday, May 1, 2012. The youngest of the Walther children, Alina was born in 1923 in Ukraine. During WWII she left for Germany and later immigrated to Canada. Alina settled in Montreal where she attended university and earned several degrees including her doctorate. In 1969 she accepted a position at the University of Regina in the Biology Department where she taught until her retirement in 1991. She was respected by her colleagues for her scholarly work and always had a good relationship with her students. Alina was predeceased by her sister Natasha who was her life companion. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3510 Queen Street, Regina, SK on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those so wishing may make a donation, in memoriam, to the Hospitals of Regina Foundation, PO Box 1697 Stn Main, Regina, SK, S4P 3C6.
