Obituary of Maude Perkins

MAUDE PERKINS October 21, 1916 - August 7, 2013 With friends by her side, Maude passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Cherished Hearts Personal Care Home in Regina, Saskatchewan. Maude was predeceased by her husband Jack Hamilton Perkins; parents John and Maude Pritchett; and siblings Jack, Bill, Mary, Nancy, Gloria, Geoff. Maude will be lovingly remembered by her special nieces, Sissy Duren of Alabama, U.S. and Jacque Spedding of England; numerous great nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends Jean Powley, Margaret Morrey, Tom Hannan, and Denis and Mylene Regnier. Maude was born on October 21, 1916 in Copford, England (District of Colchester in the County of Essex). On June 25, 1949, she married Jack Hamilton Perkins in England. They immigrated to Canada in 1951, eventually taking residence in Regina. She retired from Sears in the late 1970’s. She was a member the Royal Society of St George, the Monarchist Society of Canada, and the Eastern Star. Maude was also active in her church, St Mary’s. She loved traveling, knitting, her garden and tea with friends. Fresh flowers brightened her room and always brought a smile to her face. Her love of lavender brought about a sense of calm; often taking her back to fond memories of England, her family and friends. A special thank you to the Staff at Cherished Hearts Personal Care Home and to Dr. Pervaiz for the compassionate care she received during her stay. A Celebration of her Life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Maude’s memory to a charity of your choice.
