Obituary of Rosario Martin

ROSARIO MARTIN 1914 - 2013 Rosario passed away peacefully in Regina on Friday, August 30, 2013 at the age of 99 years. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 67 years, Delvina (Bourgeois); his children, Cécile (Gary Wyatt), Armand (Marilyn), Denis (Ann) and Luc (Freddy Vazquez); grandchildren, Christopher Nicurati, Jean-Paul (Krista), Christian (Randeana Ullman), Colinne (Peter Taylor), Andi Céline (Cullen Stewart) and Joel; great-granddaughter Maëlle; sisters-in-law, Laurence Martin, Jeanne Champigny and Irène Bourgeois; brother-in-law Georges Bourgeois; and many nephews and nieces. The last surviving member of his family, he was predeceased by his parents, Georges and Adèle (Turgeon); his twin and best friend Roméo; and siblings Louisa, William, Lauria, Alphonse, Alice, Antoinette, Albert and Léonel. Rosario and Delvina farmed and raised their family in and around Willow Bunch. A huge hockey fan, some of his favourite moments were spent at the hockey rink, especially together with his twin brother as timekeeper and scorekeeper for hundreds of games over several decades. His most cherished moments were shared with his family. When asked the secret of his long life, he would always answer that it was his wife and his family that kept him going for so long. The many family reunions over the years were wonderful occasions for him; he looked forward to seeing his countless nephews and nieces, especially the children and the babies. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Funeral Service will be held at St. Ignace Roman Catholic Church in Willow Bunch, SK on Friday, September 6, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honour, to the charity of your choice.
