Obituary of Joan Patricia Berry

JOAN PATRICIA BERRY (Webster) Joan entered into eternal peace on Sunday, September 1, 2013, at Regina Wascana Grace Hospice at the age of 82 years. Joan was born on October 22, 1930, daughter of the late Robert and Gwendoline Webster in Detroit, Michigan. The family moved back to Winnipeg in 1932. Joan graduated from Lord Selkirk School in 1947 and worked for Eaton’s as a comptroller operator for six years. She married the late Jim Berry on September 5, 1953. Joan was a lifelong volunteer and fundraiser for many worthwhile causes including Whitmore Park United Church and Harrow de Groot School. She was an avid bridge player and belonged to several bridge clubs where many lifelong friendships were formed. Joan was a very kind and gentle soul; she had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years, Donald James (Jim) Berry in 2006. Joan leaves loving memories to be cherished by her children; Patricia; Bob (Carla) and grandchildren Nicole (Ben), Nolan and Madeline; Tom (Donna) and grandchildren Noah, Nikolas, Mackenzie, Madison of Red Deer, Alberta; brother, Jack Webster (Shelby) of South Carolina; sister-in-law Bernice Berry of Regina; special cousin Len St. Marie of Winnipeg; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. At Joan’s request, there will be no funeral. A private family gathering will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last illness especially the staff at the Regina General Hospital.
