Obituary of Roger P Couturier

Roger was born in Regina at the Grey Nuns Hospital and passed away at the Pasqua Hospital after a very short stay and a lengthy battle with cancer. He attended the old Victoria School and Central Collegiate in Regina. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1954 with a B.E. and from the University of Illinois with a Masters in Civil Engineering. Roger was a life member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Saskatchewan and the Association of Traffic Engineers. Roger was employed by the Saskatchewan Department of Highways and Transportation for over 35 years. He started his road-building career in the North, designing and supervising projects in many parts of the province. He was Director of Planning and Research at his retirement. During his career, he drove every mile of numbered highway in the province. In his retirement, Roger travelled to Central and South America, Africa and Europe, Las Vegas and Hawaii with Hilda. He enjoyed his yearly salmon fishing trips to BC, trips to Northern Saskatchewan and upland bird hunting every fall with his brother Denis. Roger was a long time member of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation. He spent many happy hours puttering around and mowing grass at his farm near Sheho. Roger was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Tillie Couturier. He is survived by his only brother, Denis (Jo-Ann) of Calgary, and his special companion, Hilda Vogel and family of Regina; as well as cousins in Canada and Switzerland. Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 10:30 am. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park.
