Obituary of Stanley Donald Gerlach

Stan, late of Regina SK, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the age of 76 years. Predeceased by his parents Fred and Clara Gerlach, Stan is survived by his loving wife of more than fifty five years, Donalda “Donnie”; daughter Loretta “Kim” (Mark Brochu); his sister; four brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews. Stan was born in Tisdale, SK where his family lived on a farm in the Rosthern area. The family moved to Moose Jaw when Stan was twelve, where he later met his wife Donnie. Stan and Donnie lived in Moose Jaw, Regina, and Regina Beach over their life together. At 17, Stan began working for SaskTel where he stayed for 35 years. He enjoyed working for SaskTel where he held several positions. After retiring at age 53, Stan began his second career as a brewer with the Brewster’s company where he worked with others to set up several new locations and develop new beer recipes. Stan was an active volunteer for many years for organizations such as the Lions Club, the Regina Beach Volunteer Firefighters, and as a Councillor with the Town of Regina Beach. Over the years, Stan always enjoyed learning new things and had many hobbies such as photography, ham radio operation, fishing, working with computers, shooting, and winemaking. However, he was an especially talented wood worker, having made many beautiful handcrafted items for his family and friends over the years. Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Janet Mitchel, celebrant. Flowers most gratefully declined.
