Obituary of Albert Middelkamp

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Albert Middelkamp on Monday, September 16, 2013 at the age of 90 years. He was born on July 25, 1923 to George and Johanna Middelkamp in Zelma, SK and was the youngest of the family. Albert was predeceased by his wife Ruth in December 2008; his father George in 1928; and his mother Johanna in 1958. Siblings, Dena, Reca, Garrett, John, Bill, Ben, Johanna and Bertha also predeceased Albert. He is survived by his daughters, Denise (Allan) Stevens, Connie (Howard) Crofts and Sharon Wait; grandchildren, Cameron Forbes, Tara (Greg) Draper, Tannis Alefounder and Erin Alefounder; great-grandchildren, Cydney and Holland Draper. Albert graduated from The University of Saskatchewan and began his teaching career in 1943. Ruth and Albert were married in November of 1944 in Lipton, SK and in 1951 they moved to Regina where Albert was employed by City Light and Power and SaskPower, retiring in 1983. With the assistance of Denise and Allan, Albert was able to enjoy living in his own home until the age of 89. He moved to College Park Retirement Residence in February, where he enjoyed making new friends - especially those at Table 5 – George, Jerry, Ron and Bill. Albert was a kind, humble and loving man – generous to a fault – and was a wonderful husband and father who will be missed more than words can say. Denise will miss the daily dozen phone calls from Albert and the nightly visits to his home and then College Park to make sure Albert had everything he needed. Albert’s passing will create a void for all of those who were fortunate to know him. Rest peacefully Albert – you worked hard, kept your word, suffered illnesses and yet remained cheerful and ready to adapt to change. At Albert’s request a private burial has taken place. Donations in Albert’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 – 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 2H8.
