Dear Friends,
Our association goes back to over 27 years, when Dr. L.R. Symes visited Surat to attend an Indo-Canadian Seminar. The seminar proceedings were published as an edited book in 1994. Since then we continued to our personal and professional association. Larry visited India at least half dozen times. In return, I also have made several trips to Regina where Larry was my charming host.
In Larry’s death, I have lost a friend, counselor and an academic professional of highest integrity who would not give up once decided to accomplish a goal. During CIDA-India collaborative project (1987-1993), considered most successful, there were moments, I thought we would give up. But Larry would not do so whether 450 C heat of Ahmedabad or -450 C in Regina. It was difficult to persuade a dozen professors of Canada and India to agree on any issue. Larry managed them well fully support by his life long friend Brian Maguire.
Larry always supported me whether in sickness or happiness

I knew Larry from years as an undergrad, grad, and employee at the University of Regina. He was always involved with my life there in some way, and that is something that I appreciated. I've seen him around town a few times since our time at the U, and he always had the time to stop and chat and catch-up. He will be missed.
