Obituary of Regina Kaczowka

We remember a life well lived; our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, Regina, who passed away peacefully at the age of 88 years with her family at her side. Regina’s pride and joy were her children, but especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Regina was born in Poland but immigrated to France with her family at the age of five. She lived near Epernay, in the Champagne region of northern France. Upon completing her schooling, mom worked as a nanny for a French family. After the 2nd World War mom met her husband John, married and had their first child Philip. The family immigrated to Canada in 1951. They settled in Carrot River, SK to be near John’s brother, Frank. Mike was born in that same year followed by Rick eight years later. Mom worked at the Carrot River Medical Clinic for many years and was greatly involved in the family farm. Upon retirement she spent her time gardening, cooking gourmet dishes for family and friends, (Mom was an exceptional cook!), knitting, crocheting, and reading. She was also an active member of Canadian Martyrs Roman Catholic Parish in Carrot River. After the death of her husband John, Regina moved to Regina in 2011 to be nearer to family members. She will be greatly missed by her sons, Philip (Linda) of Toronto; Mike (Gail) of Regina; Rick of Calgary; grandchildren, Jessica (Steve) Maheu of Airdrie; David (Amanda) of Cranbrook, BC; Andrew (Kyla) of Saskatoon, Adelle and Caitlin of Calgary; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Lincoln, Mckenna, and Sydney, special nephew Henri (Laura) Golczyk and family of Red Deer. Also left to mourn are her brothers and sisters Jean, Bernard, Monique and Denise, all of France, as well as numerous nieces and nephews in France. Regina was predeceased by her husband John; her parents, Joseph and Anna Golczyk; daughter-in-law Fiona; brothers, Henri, Michel and Daniel; and sisters, Sophie and Therese. Funeral Mass will be held at Christ the King R.C. Church, 3239 Garnet Street, Regina, SK on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Interment in Pinegrove Memorial Gardens, Carrot River, SK on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. The family would like to acknowledge the excellent care mom received as a resident of Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Regina, may be made to Santa Maria Building Renewal Fund, 4215 Regina Avenue, Regina, SK, S4S 0J5.
